Here are some of the things we did during the 2014-15 school year:
Hospitality Department Tour- Rochester Institute of Technology (R.I.T.)
4. February 10, 2015 Ignition is a 3.5-hour web-based course that prepares students in grades 6 to 9 to leverage technology in a safe and responsible way. Over 1,500 middle schools have used Ignition to teach teens about topics including cyberbullying, social networking, quality online research and STEM careers. Ignition aligns to both the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and the New York State Family and Consumer Science learning standards.
5. April 14, 2015 (Fairport High School) Project Based Learning. Presenter Barb Grenga, F.A.C.S. teacher Cicero CSD. Barb was trained through B.O.C.E.S. on how to develop project-based lessons. Approximately 12 people were in attendance.
6. May 13, 2015(Churchville-Chili Middle School North) Sharing with members information obtained from the May 1 and 2, 2015 Albany meeting; planning the 2015-2016 P.D. FLW opportunities; discussion of awards and officers.
7. June 3, 2015 ---Red Fedeles Brook House----End of Year Dinner
Here are some of the things we did during the 2013-14 school year:
- Careers in the Finger Lakes -- joint meeting with FLE-- Toured businesses
- WXXI-- presentation working with the website for CTE/FACS lessons; implementing the Common Core Standards
- Service Learning Project and Raffle to benefit cancer patients and The Open Door Mission
- Sustainability Tour at R.I.T.
*During PD Meetings for 2014-2015 some of the topics include:
1a-College and Career Readiness; 2a-Emerging Careers in Industry; 3f-Networking/connections using social and professional media; 4b- Nutrition and Fitness Across the Lifespan; 6c-Professional Collaboration; 7a-Infusing educational technology; 7b- Using technology to share resources, professional networking and collaboration.
