Motion passed. Treasurer Lochie Musso Report received. President Shirley Ware Report received. Public relation activities are continuing. We will attend the NY State Fair. Volunteers are needed to volunteer at the booth. Curriculum writing is planned for July 17-20 for High School Curriculum and Home and Career Skills Conference will be in Albany Area on Aug. 7-8, 2006. Home and Career Skills Curriculum will be presented at AAFCS in Charlotte, NC. President-Elect Dodie Chechnicki Report received Vice President Linda Tuggey Report received Corresponding Secretary Linda Traynor 2006-2007 Board Meetings: 10/12-10/13, 2006; 2/9-2/10, 2007; and 5/4-5/5, 2007. Dues are proposed to raise 18-20%. If passed by membership, dues will increase as suggested: $66 for Active/Support $30 for Associate; $42 for Beginning; $17 for Student;$24 for retired; $120 for Lifetime. Lochie Musso moved and Barbara Donahue seconded to accept dues increase as presented by membership chair. Motion passed. It was recommended to organize a dues increase plan. Billing cycle was then discussed. It will remain the same for now. D. NYSUT Resolution Theresa Phillips, Linda Traynor NYSUT Resolution writing is a process available to any NYSUT member. Theresa and Linda thought of several resolutions to consider, including: More FACS involvement in a stronger health and wellness curriculum; All students having access to all NYS Learning Standards; and the Parenting course needs to be taught in an educationally sound manner. Resolutions have to be submitted by many locals by the fall in order to receive attention. Once resolution is approved then NYSUT is committed to enforcing. Committee Reports: Legislation Connie Spohn Report received Convention/Regional Linda Traynor/ Meetings Grace Wendland Thriving in a Challenging World is the theme at Holiday Inn in Binghamton. Opening speaker, keynote speaker, and cap note speakers are selected. 28 workshops are available. Registration forms are being processed. Several different booths will be set up. Nominations Jean Newman, Grace Wendland Denise Bessey was voted as Recording Secretary and Lochie Musso for Treasurer. Need nominations for President-Elect. Membership Carol Kirschner Total members should be 845. Tabled motion about raising lifetime membership dues was discussed. Tabled Motion was carried to raise lifetime dues. Carol Kirschner moved and Deborah Quick seconded that all membership dues be raised. Motion carried. A committee was created to meet Fri. evening to discuss new dues amounts. FCCLA Donna Donaldson Membership is going down, but five new advisors, one new chapter, and four reinstated chapters. 2006 State Conference in Binghamton was a success. Next will be in Rochester, during the last week of March, 2007. Report received. Finance Cheryl Hurd A balanced budget was presented. Changes were made to add additional dollars to web master position. Phyllis Coombes moved and Carol Kirschner seconded that the 2006-2007 budget be accepted as presented by Cheryl Hurd. Motion passed. Research and Publication Lisa Rutigliano Report received. Several organizations and web addresses were provided to use for classroom purposes. Student Support Services/CSHW Penny Corlew School Wellness Plans need to be completed for new school year by the Fall. Report received. NYSUT Theresa Phillips Theresa commented on new resources available through NYSUT. College Representatives Rose Avanzato/Andrea Mosenson Representatives were present from Buffalo State (Judy Davis) and UVM (Michelle Krehbiel) to discuss program options for people interested in Family and Consumer. Sciences. Tables will be available at State Meeting for colleges to present their Programs. It was announced that Andrea Mosenson from Queens College received her Doctorate Degree Teacher Recruitment Linda Dworetzky Five graduates this year at SUNY Oneonta. Report received. News Capsule Phyllis Coombe Spring Issue will be mailed soon. Phyllis has stepped down and Melanie Capiello will take over. Historian Deborah Quick Deborah commented on methods to consolidate documents. Awards Sue Teelin Report received.
